Equiscan Thermology

Equiscan developed its Training Centre in order to provide both professionals and students with a new approach to Medical Grade Veterinary DITI screening. The courses our team provide have been specifically developed by the ACCT (American College of Clinical Thermography) and the BCVT (British College of Veterinary Thermography) to provide proficiency in all aspects of DITI.

We are able to provide you with the highest standard of international veterinary DITI training. Our Training programs are the fastest growing and pre-eminent professional organization dedicated to the advancement of Thermology and thermography through education, research, and professional development.

Medical grade imaging is very different to the industrial imaging cameras that are sometimes used for equine screening. Our medical grade equipment is registered with the MHRA and is in the same medical category as X-ray, MRI, ultrasound and scintigraphy, therefore our training requires an in-depth knowledge of more than just thermography. All results provided are interpreted and reported by our team of international EMI vets and physicians who are also responsible for assessment of the Thermographer training and grading process that helps to maintain continuous quality control. Full qualifications depending on experience can take up to two months.

We are dedicated to providing the Veterinary industry with only those Thermographers that have been accredited by the ACCT and the BCVT. All Thermographers trained by our team will incorporate all standard quality control and the clinically expected protocols that are used in human medicine.

Equiscan and our team of Vets, Doctors, Biologists and scientists are changing the way DITI is used in veterinary medicine and our training programs are the beginning.  Equiscan’s main training centre has everything that you need to take you through all levels of veterinary thermography. We provide all our Thermographers with worldwide on-going training and support from our base in Shropshire. Our centre of excellence also provides students with the opportunity to refresh their knowledge on other subjects that will aid their learning.

Sophie Gent
MD Equiscan
Veterinary Thermographer
L3 Trainer

Sophie started working with thermography and human patients over four years ago. MTi (human branch) provided the Equiscan team with the knowledge needed to go forward to create the new veterinary DITI screening service. Sophie believes that the training needed to make a successful service and business needs not only a deep understanding of Thermology but requires years of experience. Training to be a veterinary Thermographer means you have to be practicing to gain the qualification, we are making sure all quality control is observed when issuing qualifications and systems for this serious role. Think about who takes your X-rays, Mammograms and MRIs and then think about who provides you with your results. We are the trained technicians that collect clinical data and our vets interpret and provide your results/report. Our Thermographers are here to collect reliable and clinical results and our training Centre can provide all the skills you need.

Over the years his knowledge and expertise has helped many horses recover from issues that have gone untreated due to non-specific and difficult to diagnose conditions. Many of our students ask about Peters racing background and like to hear about his hands on experience.

Dr Leando had a very successful racing career. Peter rode the Queens horse, Head Gear, for some time along with competing at Grade One tracks including Cheltenham, Newbury, Aintree and French and Belgium Nationals.
