Sophie Gent Equiscan MD

Director of Equiscan Ltd,
Veterinary Thermographer
ACCT Trainer
Sophie started working with thermography and human patients over four years ago where she trained at Cambridge University’s medical training centre. In 2007 Sophie qualified as a Clinical Thermographer and opened a human based practice in Cheshire. MTi (human branch) provided her with the experience needed to go on develop the veterinary application in the UK.
After some time working with human patients she then went to the United States to train with Dr Peter Leando to become one of the UK's first accredited Veterinary Thermographers. With training under her belt she started to develop the company we now know as Equiscan.
Today Sophie is the UK supplier for the Meditherm Vet systems, a role that was undertaken after working closely with the Meditherm team and has now secured the international training contract which brings students from as far as Australia to train with the Equiscan team. Sophie has provided the new approach to veterinary thermography and developed Equiscan's centre in Shropshire to offer world class training to the industry.
Equiscan believes that the training needed to make a successful service and business needs not only needs a deep understanding of Thermology but requires years of experience.
“Training to be a veterinary Thermographer means you have to be practising to gain the qualification, we are making sure all quality control in observed when issuing qualifications and systems for this serious role. Think about who takes your X-rays, Mammograms and MRIs and then think about who provides you with your results. We are the trained technicians that collect clinical data and our vets interpret and provide your results/report. Our Thermographers are here to collect reliable and clinical results for veterinary professionals”
