This dressage horse had been suffering with recurring back problems for some time. Problems were thought to be in the wither area so injections were administered just over six months ago. Owner believes that horse is uncomfortable during training and tends to bring his back up in the initial few minutes of exercise.
THERMOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION:
There is inflammation over the wither which indicates clinically significant inflammatory pathology. The inflammation is exacerbated after exercise under saddle. Central wither and left side appear most affected but saddle shows a contradictory finding of heat on the right side wither area. Saddle fit may be suspect.

Saddle shows significant inflammation bi-laterally over the wither area.

This thermogram show how inflammatory issues have exacerbated after exercise. There was also local inflammation over the sacrum bilaterally, both before exercise and after.
Summary: Report was sent to clients saddler and it was decided to immediately change the saddle, within one week movement had improved.
