The first issue that was evaluated was the left fore proximal tendon, Crozan had stem cell over two years ago and a full recovery was thought to be made. There was no thermal evidence of tendon pathology in the left fore and all responses were within normal limits. Screenings were archived and tendon will be monitored every 6 months.

Throughout Crozan's career his trainers has noticed that the left shoulder became regularly stiff but they had never got to the bottom of the issue. Here is was we found.
There is clinically significant (>1 degree centigrade) thermal asymmetry of the shoulders (L>R) with a diffuse pattern of muscular hyperthermia and a focal inflammatory point over the deltoid region. Post exercise, thermal asymmetry is more pronounced (L>R) with the focus of inflammation now being present over the deltoid tuberosity of the humerus (point of shoulder).
-
Focal inflammation is observed in the low thoracic spine region, this does not appear to be exacerbated by exercise. This issue was believed to be related to previous wither scaring.
-
There is bilateral focal hyperthermia at the ischiatic tuber (point of buttock) which develops into a clinically significant thermal asymmetry (R>L) with the lateral aspect of the right buttock and proximal hamstrings (mainly semitendinosus) being inflamed.
Ex race horse Crozan was purchased by Sophie Gent, Managing Director and veterinary Thermographer for Equiscan. Crozan was turned down for two months to help him leave his racing days behind him, when brought back into work the following issues occurred. Equiscan's Thermographer Lisa Fisher noticed Crozan was not tracking up fully on his right hind, here is her report.

Crozan has a history of muscular dysfunction in the left shoulder. Old proximal tendon lesion in left fore was successfully treated with stem cell, exact location is unknown. Farrier commented on 'typical thoroughbred foot' L fore, hoof shape indicates uneven wear with excessive wear on the lateral aspect of both forefeet. The horse has difficulty working on the right rein, this was evident in the stress test with the right hind stepping across under the body and not tracking up on the right. Horse was also noted to move in a more hollow outline on the right rein with intermittent upward head tossing.
Owner would like to review current issues before resuming fitness programme, also to review old tendon injury.
