This lovely carriage pony Jones was thought to be having problems in his left shoulder/wither area. Jack had been in rehab after a successful operation to both stifles to help ease OCD arthritis and had been on weeks of box rest. His owner felt he had been compensating on his forelimbs and was worried that training was making it worse. Equiscan were called to take a look.

We found no thermal findings in the left shoulder that correlate with symptoms or indication of dysfunction. The visual "heat" that you can see in this thermogram was in normal limits for this pony. This is a good example to demonstrate how the correct interpretation done by our trained thermology physicians is crucial.
This image helped us to rule out a dysfunction higher up in the shoulder/wither

There is a loss of normal temperature gradients in all feet. The front plantar views do not show inflammation consistent with deep structure inflammation so laminar inflammation should be clinically correlated.
This thermogram shows the hoof wall to be inflamed and this was believed to be the primary concern. Particularly in regard to recent box rest and rehab, laminitis should be considered and correlated. Our clients vet did correlate with our veterinary report and laminitis was confirmed

The plantar views of both Jones front feet do not show inflammation consistent with deep structure inflammation, this helped us to hone in on possible laminar inflammation
This image shows Jones left fore foot, this image is a very normal thermogram

Right fore foot also in normal limits
